Lana Calloway, president of Exhibit Resources in Raleigh, received the Dorothy B. Brothers Executive Scholarship from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. She received $4,500 in tuition for executive-management education.
Great Harvest Bread Co. sponsored its sixth-annual back-to-school fund-raising competition for the Chapel Hill/Carrboro school system. Joan Krueger is co-owner of the bakery.
Apex resident Jackie Walker, a graduate of the American School of Protocol, now offers “Beyond Please and Thank You,” an etiquette program for students in first through fifth grades.

Sandy Heard, president of Heard & Associates, a marketing consulting firm in Durham, won QVC’s “Decade of Discoveries Product Search” for her Shining Star Plate & Memory Book. She presented the line of gifts that celebrate family traditions on a live broadcast last month. The product sold out within seven minutes.

Patty Briguglio, president of MMI Associates, a marketing and public-relations firm in Raleigh, was named to nFocus Software’s board of directors. The firm also launched a newly designed Web log.

Blue Water Spa, of Raleigh, announced:
• The spa will donate all its revenue for services and products received on Oct. 4, as well as the first Sunday of every month during 2005, to survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
• During the month of October, the spa is offering complimentary Microdermabrasion to anyone who donates blood to support survivors of hurricane Katrina.
• Lisa Chrysanthou, Maribeth Hedeman, Thearadise Beaver, Marie Mantle, Judy Jones and Lilliana Guarino are donating time and gratuities the first Sunday of every month to help raise funds for hurricane survivors.
Dr. Bobbie Stanley, of Apex, recently received a Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry.
Debbie Penny and Lynne Dubuque of Michael Law, M.D., Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Laser Center in Raleigh will donate their time on Sundays to provide laser hair removal and laser facials to individuals who wish to support survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Also, all proceeds from procedures performed Oct. 4, and the first Sunday of every month during 2005, will be donated to hurricane survivors.

The Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties announced:
• The organization received the Southeastern Association of Area Agencies on Aging’s 2005 Outstanding Community Service Award for North Carolina.
