Jana Raedy, Ph.D., an associate professor of accounting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants’ Outstanding Educator Award.

Interior Design IV students from Meredith College are working with Skywater Building Co. on the visual merchandising of Maison d’Espoir (House of Hope) to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Cora Letteri, (Grey Culbreth Middle School, Orange County) Allegra Milani, (Duke Middle School, Durham County) and Glennon Toone, (Ravenscroft, Wake County) were chosen to participate in Outdoor Ed-venture weeklong camp.

Nancy Shoemaker, principal of the Shoemaker Group, a technology-service firm in Raleigh, was chosen president-elect of the American Association of University Women of North Carolina.

Ivy Robinson, a Raleigh-based wedding planner, will be featured on the season premier of Style Network’s “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?”

Cate Foltin, managing director of Raleigh Little Theatre, announced that the community theater group is donating 10 percent of ticket sales from an upcoming production to raise funds to restore the Pullen Park Carousel.

Beverly Ford won the first annual Rhein Prize for Community Art for her sculpture “Birdhouse.”

The Women’s Center of Chapel Hill seeks volunteers to help organize its annual juried art show.

Business

Paula Fullerton, of Sew Fine II Custom Draperies and Interiors in Durham, attended the International Window Coverings Expo in Atlanta.

Genevia Gee Fulbright, vice president of Durham’s Fulbright & Fulbright, CPA, PA, was inducted into the National Association of Black Accountants as a lifetime member. Also, Fulbright was a featured speaker for the PowerNetworking Conference in Cleveland and the 2005 Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop in Peachtree, Ga.

Gail Hayes, Ph.D., a Durham-based business consultant, author and creator of "Dr. Gail's Purpose Points" workshops and tips, was featured on the Detroit radio show "Upfront With Karen Dumas."

Andrea Castle, Ph.D., president of North Carolina Women’s Divorce Center in Durham, is launching a Web site for women in transition. Also, Castle established an eight-week, online coaching class for ADD Management.

The National Federation of Independent Business named Patty Briguglio its Small-Business Champion in North Carolina. Briguglio is president of MMI Associates, a marketing and public-relations firm in Raleigh.

The Anoroc Agency, an advertising, marketing, public-relations and graphic-design firm in Raleigh, won a Gold Aster Award at the Annual Aster Awards Competition. Deborah Loercher is president of the agency.

Jeanette Blankenship recently attended Decorating Den’s 36th annual conference in Los Angeles.

Lee Warren joined The Castleton Group, a human-resources consulting firm in Raleigh, as a client service specialist.

Cynthia Anderson, managing partner of CD Anderson, was appointed to the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce CEO Roundtable.

Grey Creative Group, a Durham creative-services firm, was selected to produce and manage the Clio Awards. Whitney Wilkerson is co-founder of the firm.

Tina Irving was elected senior vice president at First Citizens Bank in Raleigh.

US Oncology named Megan Warnes, a clinical research nurse with Cancer Centers of North Carolina in Raleigh, the East Regional Betsy York Memorial Oncology Nurse of the Year.

Russo Massage Therapy in Cary provided free chair massages to breast-cancer survivors and event participants at last month’s Race for the Cure.
