Kate Harris, a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, won a 2006 Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in England.
Outgoing member Barbara Flood was honored for her 15 years of service on the Wake Technical Community College board of trustees. She received a resolution stating she served “with dedicated, exemplary and enlightened leadership to provide Wake County with a comprehensive community college.”
Dr. AnnaMarie Connolly, an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a physician at UNC Hospitals, received the H. Fleming Fuller Award, which recognizes doctors who demonstrate compassionate patient care and excellence in teaching and community service.
Barbara Ann Horton O’Conner opened For Art’s Sake, a cooperative gallery, last month in Wendell.
Sonya Lorelle won first place and Tara Allison won third in the North Carolina 8th Annual Songwriters Contest, held at the Carrboro ArtsCenter.
